Search for the best pest control answering service and the lists you find are usually written by one of the services on them, with itself at number one. This one is written by a service too, so we’ll say so up front and stick to facts you can check. Below are 13 other services—human, AI and hybrid—plus ours, with what each publishes about price, billing, contract terms and hours, a worked cost example at 100 calls a month, and plain notes on who each one suits.
Disclosure: We’re Callvix Solutions, one of the services below. We’ve listed the others using only what each company publishes, linked to its own pages. None of them reviewed this guide, and we don’t rank them.
How we compared
Every service is described with the same eight points, taken from its own website on October 20, 2026:
- Type: human, AI or a hybrid of both.
- Billing unit: minutes or calls, because the same month can cost very different amounts.
- Published entry price and what it includes.
- Overage: what each extra minute or call costs.
- Contract and setup: term, notice and one-time fees, where published.
- Hours: whether live or AI answering runs around the clock or in set windows.
- Pest control page: whether the company publishes material aimed at pest control.
- Named pest software: FieldRoutes, PestPac and similar systems the company names itself.
“Not published” means we couldn’t find the figure on the company’s site; it doesn’t mean the company lacks it. Prices change, so check each provider’s page before you buy.

Per-minute vs per-call: what 100 calls a month costs
To compare billing units, take 100 answered calls a month at an average of 2 minutes each, which is 200 minutes. Each figure uses the plan that gives the lowest published total at that volume.
Estimate from published rates; excludes taxes, add-on and holiday fees.
| Service | How the estimate is built | Estimated month |
|---|---|---|
| MAP Communications | $179 (125 min) + 75 × $1.30 | $276.50 |
| Specialty Answering Service | $159 (100 min) + 100 × $1.44 | $303.00 |
| PATLive | $99 (50 min) + 150 × $2.29 | $442.50 |
| Callvix Solutions | $399 + 100 × $2.99 | $698.00 |
| Ruby | 200-minute plan | $720.00 |
| Smith.ai (human) | $300 (30 calls) + 70 × $11.50 | $1,105.00 |
If calls average longer than 2 minutes, per-minute plans cost more; per-call pricing doesn’t change. Run your own numbers with your call logs. Coverage differs too: the other services in this table publish 24/7 answering, while the Callvix figure covers weekday business hours. Our pest control answering service cost guide shows how to price a busy month.
Human answering services
These services put trained people on the phone. All seven publish 24/7 coverage; they differ in how they bill and how much they publish.
Ruby
Ruby is a virtual receptionist service with 24/7 live answering, including after hours, weekends and holidays. Plans are priced by the minute: $250 a month for 50 minutes, $395 for 100 and $720 for 200, and Ruby says there are no activation, onboarding or setup fees. Its pricing page doesn’t publish an overage rate or contract term, and doesn’t name pest control software. It suits offices that want a polished general-purpose receptionist and can estimate their monthly minutes. Ruby pricing
Specialty Answering Service

The 100-minute plan is $159 a month with extra minutes at $1.44; the Economy plan is $44 a month plus $1.54 a minute. Service is month-to-month with a $0 setup fee, and the pricing page doesn’t name pest control software. It suits offices with modest volume that want round-the-clock coverage and to pay for exact talk time. Specialty Answering Service pricing
MAP Communications
MAP Communications offers 24/7 live answering with no long-term contracts. Its Business plan is $179 a month for 125 minutes, then $1.30 a minute; Pay As You Go is $49 a month plus $1.37 a minute. AnswerForce
AnswerForce offers 24/7 live answering and says plan minutes can also be used for call-backs and outbound lead follow-up. Prices sit behind its sign-up page rather than on a public rate card. It names field-service platforms including ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber, though no pest-specific software. It suits home-service companies already on one of those platforms. AnswerForce
PATLive
PATLive provides 24/7 live call answering billed by the minute, with no contracts and a 14-day free trial. The 50-minute plan is $99 a month with extra minutes at $2.29; pay as you go is $49 a month plus $2.99 a minute, and larger plans lower the per-minute rate. It doesn’t name pest-specific software on its pricing page. It suits offices that want to try a service before committing and expect short calls. PATLive pricing
Abby Connect
Abby Connect pairs human receptionists with an AI option, billed in “Abby Minutes”: the Starter plan is $164 a month for 50, and a minute of AI answering uses half an Abby Minute. Plans are month-to-month with no setup fee, and you can choose 24/7 or custom answering hours. The overage rate isn’t published, and no pest-specific software is named. It suits offices that want a human-led service with room to move routine calls to AI. Abby Connect pricing
Smith.ai
Smith.ai is AI-first, with hybrid and human-first tiers. Its human plans are priced per call: $300 a month for 30 calls, then $11.50 a call; its AI receptionist has a free plan with 25 calls. Plans are month-to-month and staffed 24/7. Its pricing pages don’t name pest control software. It suits companies that want per-call billing and the option to mix AI and people. Smith.ai pricing
AI answering options
These services answer with AI and, in some cases, hand certain calls to people. If you’re weighing AI against people, our AI vs. human answering comparison lists the test calls worth running first.
Sameday AI
Sameday AI is an AI phone answering service for home services that says it answers 24/7 and routes anything truly urgent to your on-call technician. The Starter plan is $109 a month with 150 minutes and $0.85 a minute after, plus a $499 one-time setup fee. It lists 24/7 call answering and publishes a FieldRoutes integration page. It suits FieldRoutes users who want AI first with a human fallback for some calls. AgentZap pricing
Avoca, Voice for Pest and Signpost
These three don’t publish prices; each works by demo or quote. Avoca is an AI customer service rep that says it answers around the clock and names ServiceTitan. Voice for Pest is a phone system built for pest control and lawn care, listed on the FieldRoutes marketplace with an AI feature suite, rather than an answering service. Signpost pairs AI answering with an optional live receptionist service and names Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan.
Callvix Solutions: where we fit, and where we don’t
Callvix Solutions is a human answering service for U.S. pest control companies only. Pricing is $399/month plus $2.99 per inbound call we answer, and $0.99 per outbound follow-up when used: per call, not per minute, month-to-month, with no setup fee. Base coverage is Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm in your company’s local time. After-Hours Coverage ($199/month) and Weekend Coverage ($149/month) are optional add-ons; evening and weekend windows are agreed before service starts. Overnight coverage is not offered.
Bookings and call details reach your office by text or email. With the optional CRM Management add-on ($99/month), a representative enters them directly in your own FieldRoutes, PestPac, GorillaDesk, Briostack, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro account, using access you grant and can revoke; access is confirmed at setup, and there is no native integration or automatic sync.
When we’re not the right fit: if you need live answering overnight, a 24/7 provider such as Ruby, MAP or Specialty Answering Service will fit better. If you want AI to take every call at the lowest monthly cost, an AI service above is built for that.
How to choose
- Start with your call logs. Count calls per month, their average length and when unanswered calls arrive; that tells you whether per-minute or per-call billing, and business hours or 24/7, makes sense. The cost guide shows how to price a real month.
- Decide human, AI or hybrid by call type. Urgent, unusual and emotional calls are where the difference shows. Our AI vs. human comparison has five test calls to run.
- Ask every provider the same questions. Billable calls, overage, contract, booking limits and escalation; the 25-question checklist covers them.
- Score them side by side. The free vendor scorecard gives you one sheet per provider, with space for evidence.
- Test before you switch. Put the same realistic calls to each shortlisted service and check what reaches your team afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is a human or an AI answering service better for pest control?
Neither is better for every company. AI can answer at any hour and handles repeatable questions and simple intake at a low cost per minute; trained people can use judgment on urgent, unusual or emotional calls and on booking exceptions, at a higher cost per call or minute. Test both with your own call scenarios before you choose.
Is per-minute or per-call pricing cheaper?
It depends on how long your calls run. Per-minute plans cost more as calls get longer; per-call pricing stays the same whatever the length. At 100 calls a month averaging 2 minutes, the published plans in this guide range from $276.50 to $1,105 a month. Run the numbers with your own call logs.
Do I need a 24/7 answering service?
Only if your call logs show bookable calls arriving overnight that you are losing. Check when unanswered calls actually come in. If they cluster in business hours, early evenings and weekends, business-hours coverage with evening and weekend options may be enough; if you need live answering overnight, choose a 24/7 provider.
What should I ask an answering service before signing?
Ask how a billable call or minute is defined, the overage rate, any setup or onboarding fee, the contract length and notice period, holiday rates, and exactly what the agent may book or promise on your behalf. Our 25-question answering service checklist covers the rest.
Will an answering service work with my pest control CRM?
Some AI services describe direct connections to software such as FieldRoutes or PestPac on their own sites; a human service may work in your system with a login you provide, or send booking details to your office by text or email. Callvix Solutions does both: details go to you by text or email, and with the CRM Management add-on a representative enters them in your own account. There is no native integration or automatic sync. Ask any provider which fields it writes and how.
